wow.
2013 was an awesome year for me personally and professionally. I am so grateful for each client (friend) that supported me this past year with my photography. Photography has always been a passion of mine when I was young and that interest grew even more in college where I was able to study it more closely. My advertising degree plus my photography skills have given me the unique ability to create designs for businesses to help grow and increase awareness of their brands. I realized more now how much I really love business - all parts of it. The creativity, sales, customers, branding... All these things make me tick and ignite a spark inside of me.
As many of you may know, I am involved in many different businesses/ projects, too many to the point where I am spreading myself too thin. Not only am I owner and photographer for Corie Anne Photography, LLC, I am an active employee at Classy CrossRoads Boutique and recently began a new start up business, Mercy Avenue, with my best friend/ business partner this past year.
I have always said quality is better than quantity. This new year I really want this to be a focus.
One of my main goals for 2014 is to develop even more professionally. My passion for photography can be utilized in Mercy Avenue along with many of interests and skill sets I have that I haven't been able to passionately use in my photography business. My brain is nonstop with creative ideas to make and create for Mercy Avenue that I have not been able to produce due to the lack of time.
Another goal for 2014 is to push my creativity. I have not been able to create (for myself) in a very long time. Its one thing to photograph for work but after a while an artist can lose their creative juices if they can not be refueled. Then you start to not want to pick up a camera and you desire to do anything other than what you use to be so passionate about about. I have some neat ideas that I have been wanting dieing to create that just simply haven't been able to because of time.
THIS YEAR I WANT TO MAKE TIME TO CREATE.
I think in doing so, I will be able to push my creativity and grow more as an artist and as person... which in turn will help me grow professionally.
So, I have decided to not take on any additional photography clients for the beginning half of this year. This will allow me to redirect my focus from portraits to retail business photography as well as personal creations that I really want to see come to life. Don't worry, you will see Corie Anne Photography, but hopefully a more developed and artistic side that has been wanting to come out for quite some time. Also be on the lookout for model castings for the upcoming photo projects that I have scheduled for my personal work as well as for Mercy Avenue. I will need some help from some of you!
With love and blessings,
Corie
